This spring, Glenvale Park was transformed into a sea of yellow, with daffodils in full bloom thanks to a community-led ‘in time for spring’ initiative led by the Glenvale Park Residents’ Association (RA).
The planting day, which took place in autumn last year, brought together volunteers from across Glenvale Park, including residents and staff from Glenvale Park Care Home. Together, the community planted 3,000 bulbs to represent the number of homes which will eventually complete the Glenvale Park development. The bulbs were generously donated by Bosworth Garden Centre in Burton Latimer.
Bulbs are more than just a picturesque addition — they provide crucial early food sources for pollinators like bees and butterflies, which are essential for plant reproduction and food security. Blooming earlier than wildflowers, they offer much-needed pollen and nectar for insects emerging from winter hibernation.

This May, Glenvale Park LLP will also be playing its part in supporting biodiversity, leaving designated communal areas within the development, including wildflower beds and grass banks around the ponds to grow freely for ‘No Mow May’.
Commenting on behalf of the Residents’ Association, Amanda Lock said: “We are thrilled to see the fruits of the community’s hard work bringing so much colour to Glenvale Park. The planting was a real team effort and it’s wonderful to see residents, volunteers and local businesses come together to create something impactful.
“With a bulb for every home, the project is a reflection of the community spirit that makes Glenvale Park a special place to live.”
Mark Best, Director of Midtown Capital Ltd, Managing Partner of Glenvale Park LLP, said: “It’s fantastic to see the community at Glenvale Park come together for such a meaningful initiative. Representing the homes that will complete the development with each bulb planted is a real testament to the community spirit growing here.
“It’s great to be following this display of colour with the No Mow May initiative, which will provide vital support for our pollinators and local biodiversity.”
