Reflecting on Glenvale Park FC’s inaugural season, manager Ben shares a full update on the highs, lows and everything in between.
Ben commented: “Our debut season in the Sunday League was nothing short of a rollercoaster. We started off slowly, struggling to find our feet against more experienced sides – and the results reflected that. A string of defeats up to mid-October had us questioning ourselves, but we stuck together, regrouped, and made some smart moves in the transfer market.
“That was the turning point. From there, the squad clicked and confidence grew. We went on an incredible 13-game unbeaten run in the league, showing real character and quality along the way. By the end of the season, we’d climbed to a very respectable 7th-place finish – a huge achievement after such a tough start.
“The David Ferguson Trophy gave us another platform to shine. We beat several teams from higher divisions in a memorable cup run, including a dramatic win over the league leaders from the division above in the First Knockout Round. We eventually bowed out in the Second Knockout Round, narrowly losing 4–3 in a hard-fought battle against yet another higher-league opponent, who went on to win the competition.
“This season was about establishing ourselves, learning the level, and building a culture. We’ve taken huge strides forward – and now we look ahead to next season with belief, ambition and something real to build on.”
